In this article published in the Oil Gas Law magazine (issue 4, 2016), the authors analyze the suspension of the right to use subsurface resources at the initiative of the subsoil user, questioning the independent existence of this institution. The authors consider this legal phenomenon as part of the institute to terminate the right to use subsurface resources, supporting their point of view by the actual and logical material in this work. For a more detailed understanding of the issue, the authors provide historical information and compare various versions of legislation in this area.
